Stanthorpe Shire

Stanthorpe Shire is a small rural community. Their economic base centres on horticulture, agriculture and tourism.

They needed a waste management plan and strategy to ensure their compliance, community satisfaction, overall quality performance and management.

Solutions-in-Store worked within the community establishing relationships and determining issues, needs and opportunities.

Solutions-in-Store ascertained that the bulk of Stanthorpe's waste comes from activities connected to the horticultural industry. We also determined economically viable recycling opportunities by recovering items such as cardboard; weed plastic; hail netting and chemical plastics directly from farms and packing houses.

This program, along with other key initiatives will not only allow Stanthorpe Shire Council to extend the limited life of its landfill but also involves an entire community in managing their waste.
